Lost Dutchman Trail

Cable_Hogue Apr 30, 2005 01:47 PM

My wife was out hiking yesterday and ran across a big Gila Monster on the trail. She had to take me back up there today to see if we could find him again for some photos, but no luck.
We did run across a few other critters though. Photos below.

This guys was sunning himself in the middle of the trail, but kindly moved aside so we could pass.

This little guy was nearly invisible until he moved. See if you can spot him in the second photo.

This Solare female was huge! She and the little one were only a few feet from a big rugosus ant nest.

Is anyone else seeing activity? I have seen quite a few solare in the last two weeks. All juveniles except this big female today.

Hey great shots, I could kick myself as we ran across the most bueatiful garter snake eating a frog down by my in laws lake. The garter snakes here have bright yellow sides with a bright orange stripe down it's back. This one was eating a small bull frog. Wow that female was awsome indeed!
