Can a red ear and a cooter breed?

SnakeFreak Apr 30, 2005 02:56 PM

I was at the Hamburg show this morning and found what I thought was a wierd looking hatchling red ear slider in a tub of red ears and cooters. I bought it and a normal red ear, but now that I got it home and took a closer look, I'm not sure it is a red ear. It has more alot more yellow than a red ear, the pattern on the shell looks kind of like a cooter's, and instead of the "ears" being surrounded by green, it has red markings on a large yellow stripe that goes all the way down the neck. The nose also looks shorter like a cooter's and the shell is divided into more sections than a red ear(near the back of the shell, where a red ear would have one large section, its split into three sections). I'm thinking it's a red ear/cooter hybrid, does anybody know if this is possible?

It might not be a cooter/slider cross (Not sure if that cross will work) It sounds a bit like a yellowbelly slider crossed with a redeared slider.
