leopard activity

kurt1288 Apr 30, 2005 05:57 PM

I know that leos are nocturnal geckos. I am hoping to buy a leopard gecko, but I am wondering if I get one, will I ever see it during the day and will I ever be able to have some interaction with it? Thanks.

Just because they're nocturnal doesn't mean you wont' see your buddy during the day. They are perceptive to knowing when you're around. My little girl pops her head out of her hide to see me when I walk in the room. I take her out for short periods of time during the day and might give her a treat like a wax worm. They're not like frogs, in the sense that they burrow or completely disappear during the day. Your friend will be less active during the day, mostly sleeping, but might allow minimal handling.

I actually see mine out a fair amount during the day. More then i expected to anyway. I'll walk into my room and one of them will be sleeping against the glass, out of it's hide, or walking around, looking for a drink. I also have my lights on a timer, so their lights go off before mine do. They all come out and sit on the UTH waiting for their food or walk around.
