and man, was i disappointed. first of all, i found a bunch more leaftails than i saw yesterday from various vendors. of course that isnt the disappointing part. the thing that let me down was that a) the girl working the booth for a very reputable dealer tried telling me that the prices on her satanics were so ridiculously high because they "werent being imported anymore." you're talking to the wrong person, honey, cuz ive seen what the import quotas are, and it might be SOMEWHAT true for henkeli this year, it is definitely not true for phantasticus. anyhow, so i found a local guy with a CB female yesterday, and went back today to find out he sold it. i thought he wasnt selling it, and MAN it was killer looking, that reddish tan type, solid and flawless. one good dealer thats always around always has awesome prices, and he's a real friendly guy. tons of lineatus, fimbriatus, mossies, and a single spearpoint female (the only one at the show). of course i got my 2nd female from him yesterday to accompany the pair i bought from him back in january. i was just disappointed for the fact i wasnt carrying around much money, the female spearpoint was a mere $55!!! ah well. then around the corner, i found another pair of satanics for $225, wc of course. so i ask if theres any chance of splitting up the pair, and the girl tells me "yea, that would be $200 for the female." you gotta be kidding me. the dude selling the CB female sold her for $200. well whatever. sorry to have to rant, but i get all hyped up about these shows but i really dont like it when vendors lie to me or have ridiculously priced animals and try to justify it. i thought you were supposed to find GOOD prices at reptile expos, or am i wrong?

Yeah the quotas for phantasticus as well as the other uroplatus are still the same as they were before. The only thing this CITES thing does is limit henkeli exportation.

yeah i hear ya mike, i tried buyin that female henkel from lll and they wouldnt haggle, i was gonna give the chick 200 for her but she said that they werent gonna get any more in. she really wasnt even in good shape, she had scars down her spine from rubbin were it was exposed. i bought two female mossies for 80 from that same guy. theyre in pretty decent shape except for the fact that the one is just regenerating her tail. i also picked up a male pueblan milk, a couple dart frogs, and a tangerine carrot tail for pretty cheap. and at the end of the show, armstrongs was sellin 1000 crickets for $5. need some crickets or superworms?

man, that really sucks. i bought 3000 crickets from that dude for $36. so now i wont need crickets for a month or so.

haha, yea i was thinkin about asking some of the people with those ridiculous prices "so how many hands did those geckos pass through before you finally got em?" evidently i can get my hands on cheaper geckos if i wanted to try hard enough than some of these people who make a living off of buying & reselling. sheesh.

yeah the one guy had about five or six of everything(mossies,ebans,phants,lineatus,and fims). i knew he payed about those prices for them because other vendors were selling stuff that they bought from his table for about 30% mark up. i waited til the end of the show and got those two mossies for 40 each.

dude...dont tell me he had phants. did he really? his booth is one of the first i always hit up cuz he's a real friendly guy and has had the best prices on leaftails i could find for like that last year or so. all i saw there was a single spearpoint, lots of mossies, lots of lineatus, lots of giants...and i think thats all. please dont tell me he was selling cheap satanics!

i didnt even ask how much the satanics or spearpoints were but he had a couple, everyone who had any leaftails at the show, with the exception of lll and carolina specialties, bought them from him and turned around and marked them up at their tables. i helped my bro out so i was there from 7 until 6.

yea dude...that is just ridiculous. just another example of greedy people trying to make a few extra bucks real quick. i really wish i would have seen satanics if he had them. i would have snatched a few of those up right quick....i was wondering why the hell so many more people had leaftails sunday than when i went out saturday morning.
