Mites Help!

Ok i got mites how do i get rid of them and where did they come from. Ive cleaned her cage (blood python) and now have her on news papper. none of my other snakes have the mites and i have also changed there cages and put them on newspaper. I have her soaking in water does that help any? where can i get the stuff to treat them.
thanks for any help you might be ablt to give.

If you put your snake in water, some mites will drown, but some will migrate to the snakes nostrils until the water is no longer present. There are many synthetic pyrethrum-based products which are usually effective and safe when used according to directions. You may also check the following well written link with good info:

For treatment I would stick to strict cleaning and a reptile labeled mite product. Prevent-o-mite possibly works, but I have never had mites. If you have persistant problems talk with your herp vet and they will most likely discuss ivermectin with you.
