Information On Blue-Tail Skink?

OldTime May 01, 2005 05:14 PM

My friend just purchased a small skink at a reptile show in PA. The container is marked, "Blue-Tail Skink" not ""Blue-Tailed" (mistake??) Anyway, I'm having some trouble finding a care sheet on them. The only mention I found on the Internet was that they are simply the juvenile form of the 5-lined skink but I'm not sure if I trust this. Anyone know if this lizard was ever discussed in REPTILES magazine?

I would not assume species identification without reference to a pictural guide such as the "Atlas to Reptiles of the World" or a Field Guide type of book. Blue Tailed and Five Lined Skinks are acctually the common names of two separate species. You may also try Google Images page to get some type of reference. Although Vendors/Dealers/Retailers use a variety of common and/or scientific names for lizard species they Buy this does not by any means identify the correct species being sold to be taken at face value.
