New Ball Hatchling Rack

muddoc May 01, 2005 08:54 PM

Here are some pics of our new hatchling rack that we just built. It seems to work pretty good with the heat running down the back, as this is the first rack I have built that has back heat.

This is a pic of a Het Caramel that weighs 200 grams, in one of the tubs that we chose for our hatchling rack.

Nice work on the rack. A tip on mounting the helix though. I buy the self sticking sheets of velcro and cut out a shape that matches the back not covering the screws. I used to mount all my helix thermostats the same way as you but I thought it looked ugly. The velcro is amaizingly strong if you use a piece that covers the back, and it looks a lot better. Plus if you want to take it off it is way easier.

Thanks for the tip. I thought of the velcro thing, but I like the angle mounts better, as they seemed more secure.

I've mounted mine with the industrial type of velcro and it's stayed perfectly well for about a year and a half now.

Yours looks better then mine. . .

Yeah I found out if you use the good velcro not the cheap dollar store strips that you will need to use two hands to pull the helix off because it sticks so well. I use it for all of the digital temp gauges and anything else I don't want moving around like dimmers on racks and mounting light fixtures to the inside of vision or boaphile cages.

Tim,

That rack came out nice. I really like those Iris shoeboxes... I'm thinking about using them soon!

Good Luck!

Hey Sean,
Thanks for the compliment, the Iris boxes seem to be working great.
