hello everyone..i have an 18 month manakawari that has outgrown his current tank(10 gallon standing upright.)well im sure he still has room but id like to make a larger, nicer natural display from wood.stained wood and the works.anyway,id like to add fullspectrum lighting but am unsure how to mount the light overhead and keep him from getting burned on the light.i am currently using a light for heat but like i said i am using a fishtank standing upright so the light goes through the top glass and prevents him from contacting it.if i use full spectrum,i understand that it must be direct light, not filtered through glass or it will lose its effectiveness.what do you guys use to keep him from contacting the light?even if i use uv tube lights that dont get hot,im afraid he may coil around them and break them or worse get fried.i am thinking about screens but wouldnt they also get hot?id like to create a natural looking display with a nice looking light fixture,if i start adding screens im afraid the dispay will not look as nice.id love to have like track lighting or really nice dome fixtures.something to look really classy.i also have another question.my snake is now old enough to be sexed but i dont know where to go to have this done.id love to breed him/her but i am afraid if he is probed wrong,i may damage his ablility to breed.am i worrying too much?also when i do have it done and i buy a mate for him,can they live together?or must they live apart and introduced only at mating?im asking because i need to know how to design the enclosure.if they must be seperated im imagining a nice large display with a temporary wall that can be removed.is this a good idea?
