Raleigh Show Update...

Conrad May 02, 2005 01:04 PM

Well, with exception for my own booth where colubrids and ratsnakes abound, I must admit that our friends had a very limited showing.

Overall, although attendance was clearly down, there seemed to be more people there that were honestly interested in the show, and the reptiles/serivices that were being provided by vendors.

Good showing of small to medium lizards, inverts, and amphibians though, and a real decent feel overall.

If anyone else was there, please let up know how your experience went.

I was at the show Saturday. Looked for you but was never able to locate your booth. Unless I spoke to you and never realized it. I was looking for Too fast Reptiles but was never able to find a table with that banner. I was wearing Jeans, a cream colord Disney cruise-line T-shirt, and a black Texas Longhorn hat with orange letters. I covered every table, " or so I thought, so I may very well have spoken with you. I was inquiring at most tables if they had Prairie Kings or Trans Peco Ratsnakes. Take care,

Steve

Well, I should have let you know that I don't have a banner, yet... My table was in the center isle with the big red tegu on the right side, a beardy and friller on the left(facing the booth). Also, if you remember a guy with a big blue beauty, that was me...

Did you have an adult BRB with you too?

Having your blue beauty there last fall(you had that at Dorton last fall too, didn't you?) inspired me to think carefully over the winter and get a pair Saturday, I took them home in a bag and they were pretty PO'ed at the indignity, they are still settling down, one has given me a couple of defensive pecks, we want to get over that behavior pretty quick!

The show started a little rocky as they hadn't sent out the advance tix- some confusion but all survived...

I was looking for more amphibians- wanted a grey tree frog, none to be found at the expo, I went home and flipped a couple of logs and found one...also was looking for spotted salamanders, none there.

We did get several critters on our wish list, but it wasn't like I had multiple choices and got everything I was looking for, so I thought it was pretty good but not excellent in selection- hognoses were missing except ?2? and ?not great Cal-Kings?

I took home that one greeri- variable- Durango Mt King, if you saw that, whatever you want to call it it's gorgeous and about the most relaxed but alert hatchling I've ever held- impulse buy there!

My daughter and I had fun, especially petting that nice big gator...

I wish it were a little later in the spring/summer so we could see the next crop of hatchlings, too bad to have Kathy Love come to visit without her own crop of cornsnakes!

By BRB you are referring to...Brazilain Redtail Boa?

If so, no, but I did have some Puruvians a big Tegu on the table. (neither of which were mine) Also, I had Puppet, my adult breeder Blue with me again.

Yeah, there was a bit of confusion about the VIP tickets...I'm not sure what that came about from though. I know when I got there to set up Sat morning they didn't have my table or vendor packet...but we were able to get things straight and had a pretty good weekend.

Still can't believe I couldn't find anything to bring home though...
