Melamine suppliers .

Does anyone know any online suppliers of melamine sheets. I am looking to build another rack but after calling every hardware and lumber store in a 50 mile radius I cant find any. I know shipping on melamine will be high but I am weighing my options. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi there you can buy the sheets at Lowes or Home depot they are national chains and the sheets run about 34.00 a piece for .50 a cut they will even cut them for you Paul

Don't have it shipped unless you're ordering a lot of sheets.

Here are options you may not have considered:

1) Look for melamine shelving. You can often build a rack without spending too much extra $$.

2) Call cabinet shops. I'd be very surprised if they don't stock melamine and likely higher quality stuff than what you can get at Home Depot or other Home Improvement centers. Even better, they can cut the material for you at a reasonable charge and the quality of the cuts will be VERY good. They can even route a groove in the exposed edges for T moulding.

I believe that if more people knew how easy and cheap it is to build melamine racks this way it would be more popular. Many people try to have Home Depot cut the material for them and the success is hit or miss. Home Depot can't guarantee accurate cuts and their panel saw blade does not leave the best edge on melamine coated particle board. Not their fault, just the way it is.

3) Build your rack from hollow-core doors sealed with the vinyl film used in the sign industry. See page at Riobravoreptiles.com for more information.
