I guess you could consider a cottonmouth a type of watersnake, couldn't you? It is just a little bit more dangerous. There realy isn't a large number of cottonmouths in my area, but this pond I found htis one at does. I wish I had the proper facility/equipment because I would have liked to keep this one. He was a lot nicer looking an the ones from this paticular form have a greenish color when they are older, but only being 17 and having no business keeping one, I kindly let him go. But not bfore some pics.

Congrats! Nothing as exciting as your first moccasin. I've only stumbled upon a few but they are always such impressive beasts.

Yea, I have seen quite a few at this pond. Never have caught one though.

Careful handling them, they can move their fangs just like fingers. Invest in a good pair of welding gloves if you do keep them and make sure you have a locking cage and room that is escape proof. Keeping a venomous snake at any age is irresponsible, if you are not prepared.

Don't be worried about that.lol. I don't plan on keeping any venomous snakes for at least another few years. Even then I don't plan on even touching them unless there is for some reason I absolutely have to. Snake tongs are the best in my opinion. I agree with the locking thing. I have large pythons so I know all about that.lol. I nused that cotton mouth. Being very gentle with him while doing it.
