I was out looking for some Nerodia species and I looked under this piece of ply wood and there this little guy was. He just kindly started waggin his tail (in cotton mouth style) and flashing his pearly whites. There was a family of four walking in my direction, fishing. The parents looked either high or drunk, staggering around pitifuly. The 2 chidlren were not being watched at all (this is a fishing pond by the way) and were not watching where they were going and even running thru waist-high grass. Well, for that matter the parents were doing the same. I normally would not take the snake from his habitat but the whole family was walking my way (I don't even know if they saw me) I had no snake catching equipment with me so I went back to the truck, got some nylon string, made a nuse with a stick and I carefully muved it over his head and round the body. I then used another stick to support his body and put him in a bag, being held up by a stick. That was my first time ot bag a cotton mouth. I was not at all worried about the parents of the kids geting buit, but I would hate to hear about a kid getting bit at this pond on the same day I was there. We sure don't need more hatred for these beutiful creatures. I took my pics and then let him go into a realy large pond that fishing is not allowed in now.

Its amazing how many people walk around completely oblivious to their surroundings..I'd say you did the right thing by moving the snake...I figure as long as nobody gets hurt...and the snake doesn't get hurt...all went well..Great pics BTW.
