Hey everyone

To answer the questions I’m bound to get..

Scooter is a mangrove monitor. He is 11 years old, of those I have had him over 10. He weighs about 20 lbs. He is 5 ft 6 in, SV 27 ½ inches tail is 38 ½ inches. He recently basked right next to the tape measure, so they are very accurate measurements. We are house guests at the moment, he has his own room, it is nowhere near ideal. We get out for stimulation whenever we can. He eats bugs eggs rodents birds crawdads and fish (whole animals not just meat) Thanks for your interest!-H-

My mate and I took Scooter to HJ canyon near where we live. It has a spring fed stream, some nice sandy soil, with lots of interesting natural plants. We stayed well clear of the poison oak (there is lots). It was warm, but the sun wasn’t true because of the marine layer. The water was chilly, Scooter thought about jumping in, but after he felt the temprature he opted to bask on the shoreline instead.

After awhile he cruised over to some nearby shrubs and sticks and rooted around for a long while. At 10 feet he was invisible. It was a really nice quiet afternoon.
