Monster corn

pinkerton May 02, 2005 07:58 PM

"The Corn Snake Manual" states that the biggest corns "top out at 6 feet (183 cm) and about 2 pounds (nearly 1 kg) in weight." I have a 4 yearl old male amel that is under 5 feet (56-58 in at my best measurement)and weighs about 2 1/2 pounds on an empty stomach. His girth at mid-body is about 5 1/2 inches, but he shows no signs of obesity (skin showing between scales, squishiness, lethargy). He is a young, strong, active snake that only eats one adult mouse a week. He has never been power fed. He is undoubtedly the most massive corn I've ever seen, despite being under 5 feet and at only 4 years old, he appears to still be growing. Has anyone else ever had a corn grow this large? Has anyone ever bread corns for size? If so what were the results? Just curious if I've got something special or if it's just that no one shows off their big boys. If this is the case, I'd love to see some measurments or pics of other people's big males.

my corn is of similar stature... he's a male, and he's a beast... i feed him two adult mice ever 10-12 days or so, and he is incredibly active and in no way obese-- soon i will take a pic with him to give an idea of how big he is... he is probably just under 5 feet, and weighs about the same as yours... about 2 and 1/2 lbs...
definitely good stuff, i'll get a pic up here soon

but there are a few out there!

BTW, in the new "Manual" (the Comprehensive Owner's Guide), there is a typo that says corns get to be 45' long! Now THAT would be a big corn, lol! I already had a mom email me HOPING that it was a typo!!
