Feeding times and such...

fosplu May 02, 2005 08:12 PM

I bought two baby savannahs this weekend. They are about 5-6 inches long, nose to tail. I'm wondering what would be the best time to feed them, today i turned on their light before I went to school(around 7am) and then i fed them when i got home(around 6:30, most days im home around 4 though). When i fed them they were in their cave. One of them was all over the crickets but the other one wasn't interested. After the other one ate them he went back into his den and didn't bask for the rest of the day. I'm wondering if the other one wasn't interested because his body temperature wasn't up or because he ate a lot of crickets yesterday(around 5). Should I go ahead and put the crickets in there before i go to school in the morning, so they can eat them and then bask?

does it work? because i've done that with other types of species and over time they just get used to the crickets and ignore them.

I would try to seperate the two monitors, there could be a type of competition between them hence the one staying in the cave. Have you noticed any poop on the ground or anything? What are your cage temps?

they both are coming out of the cage, and feeding well. there is poop. basking is around 120-130, other side around 90. i was just wondering what feeding time would be beneficial to them
