hey, ive have two juvie dragons and they are getting too big for their ten gallon tanks. now i dont have the money now to go and spend money on new tanks. and no body i know has any so can i take two rubbermaid bins and house them in there for a short while. its only temperary until i get new tanks. and does anybody think that the lights will melt the plastic? ive seen breeders do this with large amounts of hatchlings, i just wanted to check.

It is possible to house dragons in plastic bins, but make sure the heat lamp doesn't touch the sides and isn't too close to the floor as the heat will melt the plastic. Keep it high from the bottom and sides of the tanks and check it regularly to make sure there isn't any signs of distortion in the plastic. ALso make sure no kids or cats can get close to knock the heating lamp askew.

One thing to keep in mind is y ou can build your own cage fairly cheaply, if you have some skill at building things. A basic bearded dragon cage down't have to be fancy, just 4 solid walls and one clear wall which can serve as door and 'window' is all you really need. The top can be hardware cloth or solid, with the light fixtures mounted inside.
