ball python sqeezing MY neck!

tyrel May 02, 2005 08:49 PM

thanks for all the help earlier with my new snakes RI. it salmost all cleared up!

but she was acting strange today. i had her around my neck as i was replacing her paper towel, and she started to squeeze!
she has pressed her scutes aagainst my neck in waves before, and i dont mind(she is just trying to move). But this time she just suddenly tightend on my neck! she calmed down quickly, but a few minutes later she clamped down even harder(not extremly hard, But defenatly uncomfortably firm). i got my hand around her to ease her away from my neck, but each time i let go, she clamped tight again. I went to a mirror so i could pry her off without hurting her, and put her back in her cage.

What the heck brought that on? Any ideas?

Not sure what was goin' on, but sometimes if ya move to quick they will tighten up on ya. It's called "fear of fallin'" I've had mine tighten up on me simply from me turning my head to quickly in one direction or another. Just be a little more purposeful and slow in your movements when they're wrapped.

Ball Pythons can be very dangerous. Be careful, she may have been trying to sqeeze the life out of you inorder to eat you.
You need to be very careful with such large snakes LOL.
