this is my male ghost possible het albino X one of my two extreme hypo females. I think one exciting potential with the extreme hypo is the eventual extreme ghost, so i'm pursuing that goal with this male and a second one (will be posted above). There's some other neat stuff to come from this project as well, most notably, i guess, the possibility of a triple-homozygous animal. I have another project that could produce one or more of those also.

(the male has just gone into a shed today, as reflected in the photo).

this pairing should give me hypos het/anery poss het albino, FROM an extreme: whether that means the babies are all "het" for extreme, or whether they (or some of them) are simply carrying the gene, or whether i might actually get some extremes from the extreme x "regular" hypo component of this pairing, remains to be seen. Regardless, they'll be good for pursuing the extreme ghost male.

This male is also being bred X two albino females that are possible het hypo AND possible homozygous hypo, to "test" whether or not they ARE hypo & thus hybinos, or merely albinos het/hypo, or whether they're not het at all, "just" albinos. At a minimum, those pairings will yield triple hets, and if i'm lucky i'll get some (or all) hypos double het for albino and anery.

Lastly, I'm also breeding him x a triple het. If he IS het albino, i COULD get a triple-homozygous, along with ghosts, hybinos, etc., with a minimum of the babies all being double het for ghost poss het for albino. If he's not het albino, the babies will still include ghosts poss het albino, and three other phenotypes all also possible het albino--hypos het anery, anerys het hypo, and double eht ghosts.

Total "harem" for him: four females. He's bred to three of them so far; the triple het has fled his efforts to date, but she should be coming up on another shed and maybe things will improve after that.

Terry,

How do you have the patience to wait several years to grow up a snake and then breed it? I think it would kill me to have to wait that long, however seeing the results that you have come up with and will potentially come up with would make it all worth while! Please keep us posted on what hatches from this group, especially the extreme ghosts!

Dan.

It's not easy. And i'm more impatient than many breeders, I guess. I know it's hard sometimes now, when i am trying to shrink my collection, to see new "projects" emerge that require keeping half a dozen babies, at least, to do it right, AND require a couple more generations. It's a big commitment and some projects have to be passed up because of it. I have to limit myself so producing "regular" hypos or albinos or whatever falls by the wayside so I can have the time & space & energy to focus on some of the new projects. And my pyro interests compound the problem.

I have the greatest respect for other breeders with more patience and with the energy to keep collections much larger than mine. To paraphrase your observation, I think it would kill me to have to care for so many animals.
