Leo's tail segments separating?

dhakala May 02, 2005 10:52 PM

We've had a nice, fat, healthy little leo for about three years. Tonight, my son is helping him shed some skin that's been clinging for several days. On the underside of the leo's tail there are unusual gaps between two of the segments, showing pink flesh underneath. There's no fluid oozing or anything. The leo doesn't seem sensitive about it. We're puzzled.

Anyone seen this sort of thing before

hmmm clinging shed usually means that proper humidity isn't being offered. May I suggest a humid hide? It seems that your leo is losing his/her tail and will regrow another one, though not as nice looking as the original. One way to help with shed is to dab at it with a qtip that has been dipped in warm water. This helped me before I added a proper humid hide, which is pretty much a necessity. Other folks have suggested poking holes in a tupperware container and adding warm soaked paper towels. I haven't tried this method myself.
