Question about '04 Nuevo Leon?

Uncloudy May 03, 2005 01:56 AM

Finally I got my camera back and took some pics. There is something I've always been curious about with this Nuevo Leon. On the neck, he has a little nochal stripe that colored orange. It's alot like what my mex mex's have, but not nearly as long.
My question;

Is it common for thayeri milksnake phase to have a nochal stripe on the neck like this?
Do all other phases of thayeri have them too?

Thanks for any responses and best of luck to all breeding.
Curious,
Uncloudy

I think that is kind of unique for milksnake phase thayeri.
It looks as though that particular snake's neuchal is fused with the next band/saddle. The light looking stripe must be the remnants of the ground color saturated with the red to make it look orange........LOL
To tell you the truth I really haven't a clue but that sure does sound good, eh?

Also....the white on that snake is outstanding. It is nice and clean too. Great looking snake, IMHO....

On another point....I know a lot of you guys have seen those patternless thayeri produced this year and put up for sale on the kingsnake classifieds. All of those have some degree of strange striping going on. It is also strange there were no leonis phase neonates in any of the clutches. I think they resemble the striped ruthveni in some ways....What do you guys think of them?
Do you think they are pure Thayeri?

John,
I will be looking this late spring and summer for a female milksnake phase for this '04 male pictured above. The little orange like stripe is definately a mexicana subspecies trait. I was just wondering how common it was on these thayeri and your answer did make sense.
Could you post a link to the pictures of the patternless thayeri you saw?
It does kind of sound a little bit fishy and I'd like to see the pics.
I've been thayrized and mexicanized by this forum,
