I love leos so much and wanted to get some more but, I will be going off to college in 2 years time and leos live for a long time. My parents will already be saddled with taking care of my three parrots, my dog, my cat, and my 2 leos so I don't think I'll be a good idea to get anymore. My little bro will be the caretaker of the leos (he's 12 now, and will be 14 when I leave) but as soon as I get my own place, Beanie is coming to live with me in LA (she is my leo, Phoenix is my little brother's leo even though I am its caretaker!). So that means I won't be breeding Beanie next year either (the stage calls anyway). *Sigh*...I wish I had gotten my leos sooner.

I will be going to college in 3 years and I will take my leos with me. I plan to get an apartment. Maybe you could do the same??

I was thinking of getting an apartment, but then I would have rent to pay (actually, make my parents pay!) and I would need money to get stuff for the leos. It might be just better to hold off on any more pets until I'm out of undergrad college (I'm just praying I'll get that "big break" all artists hope for before they are out of college and have no clue what to do with themselves!!!).

Yikes! If they live 20 plus years I will still have mine when I'm 60. I suppose I better make sure that one of the kids will take them when i go to that big terrarium in the sky. Of course I plan to live waaay past then but ya never know. Good luck at college. What are you going to major in?

Cleopatra Jul 11, 2003 12:51 PM

I want to be a vet and an actress so I'll probably end up majoring in some science and minoring in theatre or vice versa. My parents are all upset because I want to be an actress...they think I should be a vet. But I'm a dreamer, not a realist and that is where our views clash, lol.

Did you sneak those pets in (I thought pets arent' allowed in dorms)??? Your dorm room must have been pretty big to have all those animals as well as your roommate, yourself, and all of your belongings.
With my luck, I'll get a roommate who is phobic of reptiles, lol.

some colleges say NO PETS some allow CERTAIN pets...my college allowed geckos...but the snakes and chinchilla were kinda hidden

my college has a policy that as long as it can live in a 10 gallon container (even though i used a 20 as well) and it's not dangerous (ie snakes, tarantulas) then its allowed, so when you apply to schools ask about their policy

...but I'll probably go near here so chances are I'll still be home to take care of my reptiles. Good luck with yours! Maybe you'll find a place that allows them.

I am in college but I don't live on campus so it isn't a problem for me but I know plenty of people who get away with sneaking animals into their dorms despite the no pets policy.

I know what you mean, I will be going to college this year, but im going localy so I can stay home for a few years. But even so when I plan to move out im getting an apartment and all my pets are coming with me. :-] good thing a lot of apartments are very per freidnly around here.

Cleopatra Jul 11, 2003 01:55 PM

I want to go to UCLA or some other colleges that are in Europe. So staying home isn't really an option (unless I buy a super sonic jet that flies me to school every day!)

I feel the same way. I will be going to college next year and i feel like i wont have enough time for my pets. My dad has agreed (somewhat reluctantly) to take care of my ball python and i could probably convince my sister to take my leopard gecko(hopefully buying one next week, wish me luck!). Or maybe i will find a school that allows pets and take all my animal friends with me to college.
