Enclosure question for Arizona mt king

Jeanin May 03, 2005 12:35 PM

Hi
For an adult Arizona mt kingsnake would a 30 gallon long be okay? Its 36 inches long think 12 wide 16 high. I am just a hobbyiest so dont need to stack cages ESP with only 2 snakes in the house lol.
I have seen pictures though of CA kings in 55 gallons as they were big. I could also but a big storage box but I prefer the tank to look inside easily and enjoy.
I read they get 4 feet maybe bit bigger so not sure. Do females get bigger than males or no difference?
thanks

Although an Ariz Mtn King might approach 4ft in length (that is a good-sized one) they are slight in build. As such they do not need a huge enclosure. A 36 x 12 floor area is plenty for an adult.

They also appreciate a moist hide when it is shed time.
