I recommend routinely viewing some of the importers lists and maintain frequent contact with them as I have not seen any captive bred specimens. If I recall correct, they are imported during our summer months. Here is my baby from last year. As you perhaps are aware, its darkened a bit since.

have you been bitten?
i here they're pretty dangerous.
i mean all venomous snakes should be handled with utmost caution....
but....just asking?
has anyone started working on antivenin for the more dangerous rear fanged species?

peace!

I recieved a bite from a 6' Blandings about 3 years ago at a zoo I worked for.

It was a typical "feeding" response. I was feeding him off tongs and he struck past the food item and latched onto my left thumb.
He chewed for a few seconds and then let go. I knew "not" to react and pull back from a bite because not only will it tear your skin, but it will also cause the snake to have oral problems, i.e., teeth ripped out of it's jaw and teeth "left under" your skin.

There was a mild stinging effect that lasted for about 5 minutes or so, but after I cleaned the bite up with Peroxide, I was fine, and went about my daily routine.
