crested breeding colony size

How many females can be housed with a single male for breeding purposes given that they are housed in an adequately sized enclosure? I currently have a one male to two female setup and I have noticed that the male has lost a bit of weight since the two females were added to his enclosure. I offer more than enough food to feed all three of them, but the male doesn't seem very interested in the food anymore. He is too busy chasing the females around the enclosure all night. I am thinking of adding one or two more females to the colony. Do you think this would put too much stress on the male? Any advice to get him eating more? Thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is that there is no real answer.

There are a lot of people that advocate 1.2 or 1.3 colonys. There are some larger breeders that keep 1.5 groupings.

There are also some that sugest that you keep the males separate. So all of that being said...if two females seem to be stressing out your male....I would suggest that you separate him.

But who knows, it could be a problem with too big of an enclosure and he cant find food easily enough...I have had that problem myself.
