Herpin' in Sin City

Just moved to Vegas for a few months and was wondering if anyone had any luck up here. What time of day, at this time of year, do you go? What areas? Road or hiking? If there is anyone in the area that wants to partner up let me know!

I'm not really into cruising or collecting, but if you are just looking to see stuff I would suggest the various washes in the foothills west of Vegas. I've seen horned lizards, chuckwallas, and a gopher snake there. I've only been twice for about 3 hrs each time, but if nothing else it is a beautiful place to hike. I hear that the areas that seem "stirred up" by burrows are good places to look, but I haven't noticed them to be anything special. Both times I've been there it was REALLY hot, so I was out at first light.

good luck,

Jake

I have photos from my last few trips to Las Vegas posted on my website. They include dates and locations where herps were found.

Go out to Red Rock Canyon and go up the MT. Charleston dir t road.
Red Rock Canyon is awsome and it is a great place to find Nevadian herps !
