I have a quick question about immunity against disease and so forth in crocodilian. One of the parts of providing good care to crocodilians is keeping the water clean and good filtration. Now, lets say that I did this for a number of years for my alligator and at one point decided to move down south where it was warm enough for him year round and made him an outdoor pen. I notice the way crocs are kept in some places and the water appears to be muddy and well....natural. Would the babying of the crocs and keeping the water nice and clean for them in indoor settings weaken their ability to hold strong against infections and health problems in a more natural outdoor setting? The water that they will be living in outdoors will be heavily infested with bacteria and so forth. Would the crocodilian be able to fight off any infections and whatnot the same as if he was wild?
This has been bugging me for the past couple of nights so I had to finally put it on the table.
