fears unfouned?

zakbag_darlde666 May 03, 2005 08:51 PM

My friend and I are going on a swamp expedition near where we live in a few days to find snakes. We have some big rubber waders and everything else we need for such an expedition. The only thing Im concerned about is stepping on a snapping turtle and being bitten or stepping on an alligator snapping turtle and having my leg sheared off. Most people would be afraid of gators but their eyes are generally easy to see sticking up above the water and usually swim off before you get close. Is my fear of snapping turtles completely unfounded? Thanks!

you stand about the same chance of being bitten by a turtle while you're in the water as you do by an alligator--virtually none. you're more likely to be struck by lightning.
