DIY enclosures for common boas

wehrmacht May 04, 2005 03:19 AM

I know boas are semi-arboreal but has anyone tried setting them up in a strictly arboreal enclosure? The reason I ask is im thinking of turning an armoire into a red tail home. The dimensions are approximatly in feet 3,L X 2,D X 5.5,H. How do you think an adult 6 to 8 ft. would fair happily in these conditions? Is more ground space needed? much appreciated

A three foot x two foot enclosure isn't big enough for an average adult boa, regardless of height. Even though the snake can theoretically use the 5.5 feet of height, they can't stretch out and rest in a vertical dimension.

Larger boas tend to be more terrestrial than juvies as well.
