Gargoyle troubles

chameleon2005 May 04, 2005 01:01 PM

Hi,

I am hoping some-one can give me some help!

I purchased a gargoyle gecko a 5 days ago, he appears to be in good health. My probem is, that I cannot seem to get him to eat any insects at all.

He doesn`t eat his baby food on his own either, although he does eat that if i put it on my finger, he`ll quite happily sit and eat till he has had enough. I don't mind giving him the extra attention, although i am concerened about not eating bugs

Any suggestions?

Thanks In Advance

Phil

i know of some people that have had this trouble, some times the young ones can be problem feeders. keep hand feeding the baby food and maybe even gargoyle gecko diet and allow him to put on some weight for a while, then allow it to try and find food on its own once it is built up a little better. from what i have read this usually works pretty well.

My gargoyle was the same way, but with GGD instead of babyfood......eventually a few months later i saw him eat a cricket and i was so supprised. Now i just throw crickets in there and hes growin and the crickets disappear so i know hes eating.

mine was also the same way @ about that age too.......but i kept tossing them in anyway, only a couple tho.....and eventualy he went for them......now he's a cricket eating machine, but i still give him babyfood mixed with trex as well on occasion, once or twice a week. One thing i did notice about them is, they like larger insects.....
