GROWTH QUESTION

grngiant2 May 16, 2003 08:14 PM

How much do bp grow in about 3 months? When i got my snake she was about 20 inches long and in about 3 months she has grown about 10 inches because she is now 30 inches long.

Length isn't the best of measures, because it is not always
easy to get a good (and consistant) measurement. Whenever I
buy snakes from people, I don't ask them how long they are.
I got too tired of finding out that my tape measure measures
in 'big' inches, and everyone elses measures with those special
'small' inches LOL! I've had people sell me snakes claiming
they were 5' long, but when I got them they were closer to
3.5'.

What you really want to do is weigh them and track them that
way. The scale is an accurate way to track progress. When
buying, I find it handy to ask for a weight so that I won't be
surprised by a smaller than expected snake.

To specifically answer your question, I think it is unlikely
that a ball python could grow 10" in 3 months, but I guess it
isn't impossible. If you feed them heavily and often, they can
grow pretty quickly.

Best of luck to you!

...Good answer Chris, I would concur exactly...10 inches in 3 months would be prettttty phenomonal!

When i got her she was 20 inches. I used the same tape as the first time.. A friend that got his the same day was stunned when he came to see mine. About the feeding i feed her 2 mice every five days and she poops before i feed her every time maybe she is a monster lol

Are you sure you don't have a burm?
That sounds more like a burms growth rate than a BP.
How many times has it shed since you got it? To grow that much it would probably have to shed after each meal.

she is getting ready for here 4th shed
