i separated the dragons

jeebadog May 04, 2005 06:29 PM

Its been a week since i separated them. i posted a message a few days earlier because one of my dragons was stressed by the larger one. since then, she hasn't been eating much more. the crickets i put in rarely get eaten and they eventually die. I give him veggies and she passes them up. the only thing she does eat is mealworms but i don't want to give her a full diet of that as it can be unhealthy. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For right now feed her whatever she will eat. I would take a fecal to the vet as soon as you get a "sample" from her. Especially since being stressed for long periods of time could have brought on a parasite problem. Keep her destressed. Make sure the tank she is in is porportional to her size, sometimes (especially with more "finicky" beardies they will get really stressed in a tank thats too big), make sure the temps are corrects and that she cannot see the male. Try to avoid handling her until you have figured out whats going on. She may still be adjusting to her new surrondings though, so keep offering her food items and hopefully her appetite will pick up. Remember to take any uneaten crickets out after an hour or so so that they dont harrass her. But definately get a fecal to the vet, if she has parasites that would explain the appetite loss.

Good luck!! Hopefully someone else will have some suggestions too...
