Egg question . . .

MajesticRose May 04, 2005 06:57 PM

Ok, so my Jungle girl laid eggs . . . and the one is looking great. Still white and round . . . however . . . the other one is indenting now . . . it's not yellow, and it's still that "stale marshmellow" type feel. They are being incubated at temps between 90-92 degrees (no higher) I open the lid up every couple of day to check on them, and the bedding is staying moist in the container . . . any clues?? Is the egg dead?? Or should I hold on to it?? THey're not due to hatch until June I guess . . .

My other set is looking good . . . from my Tangerine . . . however Goldie laid another dead clutch (her third) last week. Not sure why . . . Didn't find them until I cleaned their tank, so I think it's partially my fault since I didn't catch them in time. I added an extra hide in the tank . . . I guess I'm just gonna have to seperate her when she's ready to lay tho . . .

Thanks!

The egg could maybe use a little more humidity, You can try placing a moist peice of paper towel over it, an see if it pops back up. Make sure not to let the paper towels dry out though, check on it a couple time a day. When I have done it they ususally pop back out in a day or two, a few overnight.

Another thing though 92 is too high, you are more likly to have some problems w/ the eggs/babies then under 90. highest temp should be 90.

Sorry, that was a typo I didnt catch. They are actually sitting at 82 or 83. I'll try that paper towel. I hope it works! Something tells me that they are infertile, though.
