so how many gens. before you figure out if it's genetic? And also, if it is genetic call me!

Traci May 05, 2005 12:48 AM

i bet you are having a blast with this gem of a corn snake! Thanks for keeping us posted about her.

BlueKing May 05, 2005 10:14 PM

Thanks you! I am very interested to see what comes out of her eggs. But let the eggs come first!!!

so how is she adapting to captivity? What did u breed her with/what are you expecting?

BlueKing May 05, 2005 10:16 PM

She's doing better than all my other snakes! I bred her to another male that I found a quarter of a mile away from her. I will probably keep her babies and then breed them to each other to see if the golden color is genetic.

What if the golden color is a "line" trait, that is, a "golden influence," as opposed to a recessive gene?

HMMMM. . . . Well, when it comes to brooksi, I do admit I like the white sided, extreme lavender albinos, or anything with lots of red or orange. . .
Red IS my favorite color . . . (pic of my breeder male okeetee)

THANKS, and I do feel very fortunate to be able to have/breed this unique animal. Maybe some day we'll have corns that will resemble mandarin ratsnakes. . . That would be awesome!
