Cage Cleaning

alreynolds2003 Jul 11, 2003 02:21 PM

I was wondering what other ways people clean out their cages. If I'm going to be upgrading the size of his cage and its in my room, how can I bring it outside to clean? Currently I bring it outside and spray all of the leaves off with a bleach/water mix and get everything out that wasn't intentionally placed in there, then I rince it down really good with water and let it dry. Another problem is what about winter?? I dont have the area in my house or garage to do it, is there an easy way where I dont have to pull it out all the time??

what i do is i keep the floor of the cage completely bare. All I have is an 8 inch potted tree. the poop drops straight to the ground. overall very easy to clean. they more you have in the cage the more you gotta clean, so try to keep it simple.

I have a very large saucer under the plant that takes up almost the whole floor of the cage. It is simple to remove and usually has about 80-90% of the poop on it. I then clean the floor of the cage although there is usually very little left to clean. Also, I wipe the leaves down with a damp cloth to remove any debris on them.

About once every three to four weeks I remove the plants and give them a good soaking in the backyard. I am guessing you could do this either in the kitchen sink or a bathtub in winter time.

Peersonally, I think the bleach is a bit of overkill, but I guess you are playing it safe. I would just be afraid that any left over bleach may find its way to my cham somehow.
