I've finally joined the world of chuck keepers...

jiffypop May 05, 2005 08:34 AM

I've thought about keeping chucks for a while, had a couple of rescues come and go, lizard sat for a friend's pair and incubated her eggs til they hatched, and finally decided to get some to keep forever. They will make a great addition to our educational presentations.

Thanks, Tom, for these wonderful creatures. They seem to be acclimating well, are eating and basking daily. The 2 females that Jen has also seem to be doing very well and Jen is thrilled with them. I've also fallen pretty hard already but don't spread the word. I don't want my reputation as a "large lizard" wrangler to get tarnished!! LOL

You fallen hard for Tom or those lizards? Remember me from the expo? I asked you if you knew Tom and you said you were supposed to get some checks. I guess I subliminally planted the message...

PS...Tom, the subliminal message planting is working!!!

Kids always seem to get a big kick out of chuckwallas. Back when I was in college, I used to do presentations with their chuckwalla and he was always a big hit. That was my primary motivation for getting mine. I did my first presentation with Rigel back in March and he was a big hit too. My female, Gracie, should be established enough next year to start "making the rounds" too
