Depending on how head shy he is: I usually use the warm damp wash cloth method, place his head inside for a few minutes then gently rub off any remaining shed. If he's extremely head shy - try putting him inside a warm damp towel and coax him thru it, the movement should be enough to help loosen the rest of the shed, can also be done with a damp pillow case, but I find that towels work better (little more texture to work with).
