Calling owners of full-grown (or nearly) Aegyptius Aegyptius Uromastyx

purduecg May 05, 2005 11:14 AM

ie - those of you who have freakin' big Egyptian Uros.

Mosca is quickly outgrowing the 40 gallon breeder tank that Archie lived so happily in for 5.5 years. So I am trying to determine whether to make him a seperate tank and have 2 enormous tanks to find room for on the floor, or make a "double decker" style duplex for the 2 Uros. (seperate tanks, just one on top of the other).

How big are your Uros, how big is their living space, and how happy are they with it?

Thank you so much for your help!

Elizabeth

Hey hey,
I have an egyptian a. microlepis who currently measures 14.25" in length. He's a big boy and has a big cage. His floor space is 3' x 5'. I think that is the minimum that you'd want to go for an aegyptica aegyptica which get even bigger than mine will get.

My biggest egyptian, hannibal, is almost 3 years old and is pushing 17". I built a 6x2 for him a while back, because he looked pretty cramped up in his 4x2. He now has tons of room to rome his enclosure freely, and definately takes advantage of this.
