Rainer,

Nice Ghost. If you bred one of your N.E's with a hypo, do you think that the Ghost would be much lighter like Dave's? Do you think the coloration of the hypo would have any determination of what the offspring would look like?

Awesome looking animals Rainier. I hope to work with Ghosts sometime down the road. I am looking for a snow or two to hatch out this year.

Dave,

Do the Ghosts look differant than the N.E. Axanthics? I know that they carry the hypo trait, but as far as general appearance, do they both look pretty much the same? If you look at a pic of Rainer's N.E. Axanthics, they look very similar to the one you posted. Would the appearance of the Ghost differ with what kind of hypo's or axanthics you breed with?

I love my ghost, she's a blankety blank knockout. i get to compare her to some nice brooksi daily lol!!! some of the "new england" axanthics are quite outstanding and do appear similar to a ghost. i cannot say they are the same as I do not have a "new england" axanthic to photograph next to a ghost under similar conditions. most of the pictures i take are inside with poor light lol!
the ghost lineage has come from llemke axanthics bred to doug beard's hypo line. I do not know too many other breeders that have bred the ghost line more than doug or myself and i haven't yet expanded on the bloodline. doug may have outbred.and in all this time since the first ghosts hatched (2000)i think i have produced 8-10 so i don't think there are that many out there. I don't know what the difference is between a "new england "axanthic and a llemke axanthic, most explanations i have received do not reveal a true difference in the recessive trait, ( out breeding to nice animals to clean up the APPEARANCE does not change the RECESSIVE TRAIT!) as they are compatible: llemke x n.e.= 100% axanthic. some llemke axanthics are equally outstanding. i have been interested for some time in acquiring a "n.e." and breeding it to some nice orange hypos for a change, follow through with the 2x het breeding and see what difference there may be. so many projects so little time. any one out there that would like to loan a n.e. axanthic male or female for breeding purposes next year let me know!
Rainer got his ghost from Brandon; Brandon got his 2x het ghosts from me in a trade several years ago. the animals Brandon now has are the ones that produced the ghost female I have posted. That makes Rainer's ( and Brandon's) ghost(s) and my female siblings several years apart. I don't know if Rainer's is a male or female but i would expect it to have a similar appearance as an adult.
