Hatching process >>>>

Okay, I think one of the eggs is going to hatch either tonight or tommorow because it has shrunk in size over the past few hours. I am using Albey's method so there are no air holes in the container so I am not sure if I should leave the baby in there for too long. Will it hurt the baby to remove it right after hatching??? I don't mind sitting up all night waiting for it to hatch, I just don't want it to suffocate or something in the container. How long does everyone here leave their babies in the incubator for??? The tank is all setup and ready to go (just have to put water in the little lid I have as a water dish) but I am really nervous since this will be my first hatching ever (for reptiles that is).

You don't have anything to worry about... the babies can last quite a while in that container (days).

Good luck with your hatchlings.

Hey,

I usually leave my babies in the incubating container for 24 hours. The relatively high humidity inside the incubator helps make the first shed go a bit smoother... I've actually left the babies inside the incubator for 72 hours to make sure they were all okay. Hope this helps.

I have had babies be in the dish for 12 plus hours before I have found them and they don't suffocate. I usually move mine to a glad ware bowl on the heat tape on the baby rack and keep real moist for a day or so, you can also put in one and leave in the incubator on moist paper towel. I like letting them have nice moist warm air for a day or so till their lungs get used to breathing air real good. Don't know if it helps but makes me feel better.
