Should I or shouldn't I........

Well, I checked with Lindsey Pike re: Egyptians 'cause I really would like to get one. We love our Ornate and would like to add a big boy to the collection. Is there a compelling reason NOT to get an Egyptian? We currently have the Ornate (DeerFern Farms), 2 Bearded Dragons, a handful of Crested Geckos, and a Sand Boa (not to mention the dogs/cats/fish). The other option is to get another Ornate to buddy up with our guy Houston....any feedback will be appreciated!

I got a phenomenal Egyptian baby (Mosca) from Lindsay last October (born in August). He/She was a huge pig about food from day one (literally), friendly, and sociable. Lindsay has been wonderful about answering questions I have had both before and after I got Mosca.

The only thing I would prepare for is that they grow, FAST. I thought I would be able to get at least a year or 2 out of the 40 gallon breeder I currently have Mosca in, but I am going to have to build him a new cage this summer.

The other thing is minor, he eats, A LOT. Think twice their body size in greens.

All said though, it took me a long time to find an Egyptian, and I wouldn't give him up for the world. Come join the party!

Well...I did it. Lindsey said they're 4 to 6 inches, about 15-29 grams. He bought them with paperwork indicating captive bred imports and said as soon as he got them home they went right to eating. I thought about waiting for one of his later this fall/winter, but he said they're very healthy. So I feel good about ordering one from him. I'll keep you posted, thanks for the reply

Well....he/she arrives Thursday AM so I'm busy getting the enclosure s/u. I had a great conversation with Lindsay Pike on Saturday so I feel very good about the decision to get the Egyptian, even though it's not from Lindsay's stock. I've decided to house it in a 30g breeder as a temporary while we finish our home built enclosures. Since it's so small, I'm not sure what size to make the new enclosure...planning for a big boy eventually! Thanks for your encouragement!
