AHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My breeding season sucks !

Keith Hillson May 05, 2005 07:47 PM

Well my main proven female just laid 9 slugs and 3 so far good looking eggs. This female has produced clutches of 9 and 12 eggs with 100% hatch rates over the last 2 years. The only difference is the male I used. He also sired a clutch of slugs (lol) with another female this year. The question is was it the male or the female ? I believe its the male any arguement to the contrary ??? Im open to anything. Anyway Im sooooo bummed I thought that these two would be the ultimate hook up but I guess not.

That's a bummer Keith. I guess you could back up breeding her to a known male for the 2nd clutch and see what happens.

One of my two Pender X Hyde female Eastern Kings just laid 9 slugs and no fertile eggs.

The 2nd female just had her pre-lay shed and I can feel at least 7 eggs. I am not holding out hope. Last year all of my 1st time females laid mostly infertile eggs as well...

On a better note - my Ocracoke OBX King is so gravid that she cannot bend her body.

Sorry to hear that you have a possible "blank shooter"! Like Mark said, Try for a second clutch if you wanrt to with another male. . .
