I don't know if you have a large common or alligator snapper but one of the best things for either is a plastic stock tank. They come in various sizes up to 500 gallons. They are very tough and relatively cheap. Rubbermaid as well as a few other companies make them. Even the larges alligator snapper would be happy in one of these provided you could heat and filter it adequately.

i have my alley snapper (12-15 inch shell) in a 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank. i am using a pondmaster 1250 to filter it. also using a smaller duetto to have some surface movement. using two fish tank heaters to heat it. i forget what wattage. have about 150-200 gallons of water in the tank. the two heaters keep it at 75-78.. the stock tank came with a drain in it too so thats helpful. got it for $150 bucks. filter was like 100. heaters together cost me like 40-60.
