Is there a size difference between a fuzzy and a hopper?

Michelle1010 May 06, 2005 10:32 AM

I bought a couple hoppers from a pet store yesterday and they are small and skinny. I had a couple fuzzies in my freezer for my son's corn to finish and noticed that the fuzzies are bigger and meatier than the hoppers. I am very disappointed in the selection they have been giving me and there is no where else to go for food.

what I notice is that usually my fuzzies are plumper than the hoppers.

I suggest ordering rodents on line, the quality seems to increase that way.

Fuzzies are usually only about a week to two weeks old, Hoppers have their eyes opening and are running all over the place, about 2 and half weeks to about 3 and a half-4 weeks old. They may look leaner as they are standing up on all fours instead of sprawling on their bellies but deffinitely they should not look skinny, probably half starved before being frozen.

I purchase off RodentPro but any online rodent store probably has better quality mice than your pet store.

I buy mine at shows. You can see what your getting.LOL.If you do order online find out the weights of the different size mice and go from there. You might even like to switch over to rat pinks or pups.I just go by price per pound...Paul
