Indigos are usually found active in the mornings around water. They aren't particularly rare but are protected, as they should be. The problem with finding them is that almost all of the habitat is private land. You can still see them in the parks and refugest along the valley (Santa Ana NWR is a pretty good spot).

Hogs are best found road hunting sandy grassland areas in the morning and the hours before sunset. They are hard to see on the road and they aren't really common, but roadhunting is probably the best way to find one.

My father-in-law has a ranch there and will be visiting this summer (4th of July). I've never really hunted there because I wasn't into it yet the last time I was there. I have a pretty good book on the snakes of Texas, but I was wondering if you had any first hand experience around there.

My plan is to drive roads/walk at night and I guess in the morning would be good as well. There are even a few ponds on the property, and I think a portion of a creek as well.

I am just really excited to go looking in an area where I don't have to worry about people on the road or private property or national parks or anything. I'd love to hear any tips you have.

Thanks,

Jake
