Can anyone guess what this is?

Well one of my coworkers found these guys in his backyard close to Los Angeles California. He actual gave them to another guy who was going to give them to his 8 year old. I asked him if he was going to buy a tank and look up the husbandry info, knowing full well that he had no intentions. He replied to me I will let my son play with them until they die or he gets bored. I said you know what here is ten bucks go buy your son something he doesn't have to take care of. Anyways they are about 9-11 inches. The guy told me they were fighting but right away I knew that was a love fight he was talking about. Well I have the pair and the female I am pretty sure is gravid. I will release them after I observe them for a while already looked up the husbandry and downloaded 4 care sheets. Well here they are:

Female

Male

Pair

Well I guess I am still a little kid at heart!!

California Alligator Lizard? I think...not sure. Anyway, very beautiful. I'm so glad you got them...I can't believe someone would consider them a toy for a little boy! Some people. What are you going to do with the babies if there are any?

very nice. My 9 year old son got bit by one. NOT a kid friendly pet. Thank you for taking the effort. I have only rescued them from cats and then release them. We have lots in Ontario...45 miles east of Los Angeles.
