1st time breeding question...

gothpython May 07, 2005 03:51 AM

i have seen several pics where the ovulation is pretty much symmetrical. so i am wondering if my girl is actually ovulating or if there is something in need of a vet. if she is ovulating, then this is one unusual lump unlike i have seen before. any opinions greatly appreciated...
thank you
here's a full body pic...

Has she been being bred? If she has, how long has she been in with the male and have you witnessed any copulation? She could be beginning to develop swelling normally associated with being bred prior to ovulation but the swelling in your PIC doesn't look like the typical swelling associated with follicle development.

In my experience, ovulations typically last around 24 hours at most so you won't need to wait very long to see if that lump dissapates or smooths out. It is a rather odd looking ovulation if that is what it is. Odd in that the ovulations I've witnessed are less concentrated in one spot and are usually spread out over a longer section of the animal's body.

i have had this girl in my care for a little over a month. she has yet to eat for me but i did witness her eat before bringing her home. yes she has copulated with a male. so i guess right now all i can do is see if the swelling goes down. if not then it's a trip to the vet. thanks.
