I'm gonna call this turtle 'Nibbles' if he lives long enough. This hatchling I'd bought, the yb I've posted about that wouldn't eat? Well, he now just nibbles. He'll sometimes take half-hearted bites, mouth the food, and than sometimes spit a good majority of it out. He does this in bits, so it's hard to determime if it's eating or not.

But he seems to be more alert. I just wonder if this is typical behaviour of some hatchlings, or if it is a symptom of an illness? Or is it just too timid, feeble, not yet used to solid food?

Sounds like improvement to me and Nibbles is a great name for him. Have you been getting him out in the sun?

No PHLaure, haven't had the opportunity to get put him outside. It's been rather cloudy and cool. I will, as soon as it warms up.

Yeah, I think I'll call this little one 'Nibbles.' I just hope he becomes 'Chomper.'

Have you tried frozen blood worms, the kind that comes from the fish sectio of a pet store, in the little foil bubble pouches?

No sorry, I haven't tried frozen blood worms because there arent' any where I'm living. I live overseas, in Japan. They don't carry these at the petshops, at least not where I live.

Nibbles is doing okay though. He's eating very, very small worms. He ate two today. This way I can check on his progress. I also see him nibbling at fish chunks I put in there, some floating food, meat and other stuff.

The bottom line is he's not floating anymore. He's sinking to the bottom, or close to it. This is a good sign, right?

His eyes are open more too and he's staying in the water longer. I think he's coming along.
