froggiefantasy4 May 07, 2005 10:42 AM

i purchased a barking tree frog at the reptile show this past weekend... the first frog that i picked up had a sore on his nose, so i traded him in for a different one, this one i think looked pretty healthy. i was very particular to not buy WC frogs... these guys were imported... well... now the little guy has a bloody sore on each of the undersides of his front two feet.... i was just wondering if theres anything i can do. thanks in advance

I use small dabs of neosporin on my herps wounds. Also, be sure to put him in a sterile enviornment at least until he heals. Open wounds are prone to secondary infections, which could be fatal if not treated properly. House him in a simple enclosure with paper towel substrate, a shallow water dish and some things to climb on/hide in. Be sure to use small amounts of the neosporin and keep his enclosure extra clean. Btw, very few people breed barking frogs, and I dont know what the vendor means when he says the frog is imported, (the frogs are native to southern US. The vendor sounds shady to me), so I would think that your frog is indeed WC. Be sure to quarantine him for a while after he heals if you want to keep him with any other frogs. WC's still make good pets, but they usually require a little more attention and care, as they stress easily and usually carry internal parasites. Good Luck
