Shedding Question

rellim May 07, 2005 01:50 PM

My BCI is a little over a year old and has not had any trouble ever shedding up until now. His last shed did not go bad but it was the first time the old skin didnt come off in one big piece. He shed well except for a small piece on his nose area. I did not disturbe him or anything but now (a week and a half later) the piece of skin is still there. Should i attempt to remove the piece of skin or wait until his next shed to se if it comes off. I also noticed that before this past shed he ate very well and now he seems to not be interested in his mice. Any advice would be of great help.

It's best to get it off before the next shed, and your snake should be able to get it off himself, but if you feel the need to lend a helping hand you can do several things.
1. Soak it in some lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes then let him back in his cage.
2. Using tweezers or your fingers you can just pull gently untill the skin comes off.

Just my thoughts. I wouldn't wait untill the next shed though.
