If Fang was a Dog, he'd be a pitbull. He's being very vicious.

This morning I had to seperate the two adults because, for some reason, Fang was attacking the adult female pollie. I have seen cut marks before and now have witnessed how they happened. Fang bit pollie on her abdomen and wouldn't let go. She is not seriously hurt, just some scrapes, but Fang is starting to concern me. I don't know if he just has the taste for blood or what, but every oince in awhile he'll go on a vicious frenzy. He even gets to the point where someone can get hurt. The female was switched over to the Aquaflame cage after the incident and has been there peacefully since.

Does anyone have any history or explanation for this, it is starting to concern me?

Biting her stomach makes me believe he was FORCIABLY trying to mate with her, and she rolled over on her back, which females will do when they do NOT want the male's advances.

Some males as my Zuni will ignore that female response and become very AGGRESSIVE, remeber my pic of Hopi, one time, he bite the heck out of her and she was pretty bloodied up!

I can not house anybody with him during breeding season. During the winter hes better.

Just a thought. If hes ATTACKING out of aggression, not much you can do except allow him to live alone.

Can't have your other lizards mangled,

last weekend my one female tried to eat the other female's tail. i have never seen either one be mean before. and last year walter took a nice chunk out of ivan's neck during a failed mating attempt. he is the nicest most laid back lizard but i guess he really wanted to mate! knock on wood, he has never acted like that again. i guess all those little hormones make them do crazy things.
sorry about your girl, i hope she is doing ok!

It was that or just a harsh mating ritual, but the pair is out of mating season (do not try to breed at all). I still have them seperated and giving the male some crickets to let his aggression out on.

so if it were me, I would do exactly what you have done. Keep them seperate. He may have to live alone.
